DENVER – The first snowstorm of the year not only left a nice blanket of snow across the state of Colorado but also had many city officials busy out on the roads.
Rescues
A woman and her dog were rescued after a vehicle slid off the road and into a pond in Aurora Thursday in the area of East Alameda Avenue and South Ironton Street.

The vehicle spun out into the lake at around 3:16 p.m., according to Aurora Fire Rescue spokesperson Lori Bridges.
The woman was extracted without incident and did not want to be taken to a hospital.
The front tires of the car were the only thing that went into the pond.
Crashes
A rollover crash stalled traffic for a bit on Interstate 25 around Hampden approximately at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.
On Wednesday, traffic was held on eastbound Interstate 70 near mile marker 213 because of multiple vehicle spun outs east of the Eisenhower Tunnel. Traffic was also closed at Silverthorne on I-70 due to spun out vehicles.
Delays
The Regional Transportation District experienced afternoon delays due to snowy roads Thursday.
Buses were delayed for 10 to 20 minutes and the delays increased on mountain routes, with buses reporting 30 to 45 minute delays.
Rail lines fared a lot better, reporting only minor delays of less than 10 minutes on all lines, according to an RTD official who posted the information on Twitter.
Denver International Airport reported approximately 400 delayed flights Thursday. Additionally, there were approximately 140 flights that were canceled due to the slow-moving snowstorm, according to Flightview.
