FORT CARSON, Colo. -- For families stationed at Fort Carson, Christmas is becoming a reality. Those stationed at the Colorado base were able to take their pick of 500 Christmas trees on Tuesday.
In conjunction with the Trees for Troops program, which provides farm-grown trees to all military branches, FedEx helped deliver hundreds of trees to the base at 11 a.m.
Many families made an event out of it, bringing their children, who were offered candy canes and other treats.
Ft. Carson families said the donations help make the base feel like home, and help show the military is appreciated and taken care of.
The base is just one of 65 bases in 17 countries to receive free trees.
