Man found dead after building fire in northern Colorado ID'd

LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a man who was found dead after a building fire in northern Colorado.

The Longmont Times-Call reports 56-year-old Richard Benz was found dead Monday at a makeshift living space made of various pieces of wood and wood pallets next to an electrical services business where he worked.

Longmont police Cmdr. Joel Post says electrical extension cords extended from the main building to the shelter, and there were electrical space heaters inside the shed where Benz was living.

The business' owners have not responded for requests for comment, but Post says employees knew Benz was staying in the structure.
