FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A person is dead following a head-on collision near warren Lake in Fort Collins late Saturday morning.
A 2003 Toyota Tundra was reportedly going east on Horsetooth Road in the right through lane when it lost control on the icy roadway and slide into westbound traffic, according to a statement sent by Fort Collins Police Services.
At the same time, a 2014 Scion iQ sedan was going west on Horsetooth Road in the left through lane when it crashed head-on with the truck.
The crash was reported in the area of East Horsetooth Road and Camelot Drive at around 11:16 a.m.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra, Theresa Tyron, 50, of Fort Collins, was not injured in the crash. Police say she was an Emergency Services Dispatcher with Fort Collins 911 from 1994 to 2016.
The driver of the Scion iQ died at the scene. The identity of the driver will be released by the Larimer County Coroner's Office after the family has been notified.
Horsetooth was closed both ways for approximately five-and-a-half hours while investigators processed the scene of the crash.
