Clouds have drifted in over Denver Thursday morning and it's acting like a blanket, trapping in some of Wednesday's heat. You'll find some very mild 60s as you step out the door and there will be more clouds than sun for the eastbound drive.

Skies will gradually clear over the next few hours. High temperatures will top off in the mid to upper 80s. A few isolated storms may roll off the foothills and onto the plains during Thursday afternoon and evening, but they'll be few and far between. We'll see a better chance of storms in the mountains Thursday and Friday!

The monsoon moisture make a comeback for much of the Western Slope along with the central and southern mountains Thursday. A Flood Watch is in effect from 6 a.m. Thursday until Friday night for the potential of flash flooding. Some areas could see 1-2 inches of rain from slow-moving thunderstorms.

A male student died hours after he shot and wounded two of his peers at Evergreen High School before turning the gun on himself Wednesday.

All three juveniles were transported to CommonSpirit St. Anthony Health Center, where one victim remains in critical condition. The second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was listed in stable condition, according to Dr. Brian Blackwood, head of the trauma unit at the Lakewood hospital.

In an update Wednesday night, hospital officials told Denver7 that the second victim is now "fair" and had been transferred out of the hospital to a different facility.

Denver7 Investigates confirmed and witnessed law enforcement agencies conducting a search of the suspected shooter’s home in Evergreen on Wednesday evening.

Through multiple informed sources, Denver7 Investigates obtained the address of the suspected shooter, which is in a remote gated community roughly 6.5 miles from the high school, near Corwina Park just outside Kittredge.

At around 6 p.m. Wednesday – less than six hours after the shooting – nearly a dozen law enforcement vehicles entered the road leading up to the home. Exclusive video from Denver7 Investigates showed flashing lights inside the home as investigators took photographs and appeared to be collecting evidence.

Students fleeing from the shooting sought refuge at a nearby home, and the heartbreaking moments were captured by a Ring doorbell camera.

The minute-long video opens with one student rushing up to the front door and activating the Ring camera. After no one answers the door, he takes off.

Soon after, a group of students rushes up to the door, hoping to get inside. One student can be heard yelling, "Please!" while another says, "I know these people!"

In light of Wednesday's incident, Jeffco Public Schools has canceled Thursday classes for all schools in the Evergreen and Conifer articulation area.

Plans for Friday classes will be released on Thursday, according to the district.

Classes have been canceled at Evergreen High School for the remainder of the week.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Victim Services Unit will operate a resource and information center at Bergen Meadow Elementary School on Thursday and Friday.

Evergreen High School shooting 9-10-25

Victim advocates, mental health professionals, victim compensation representatives and school personnel will be at the center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. The center is open to all students, faculty, family and community members, according to the sheriff's office.

Information about retrieving vehicles and personal items from Evergreen HS will be available at the center. Students and staff who witnessed the shooting and have not yet spoken with an investigator are asked to come to the center to do so.
