Whether you’re a novice to the Dungeons & Dragons realm or happen to have spent quite some time there, if you’re a fan of the hit Netflix show, you’ll be able to appreciate that a “Stranger Things” version of Dungeons & Dragons now exists.

The Hasbro game is a starter kit that offers something for everyone — novices and experts alike. It’s like the Dungeon & Dragons game the boys of the show love so much, but with a “Stranger Things”-themed twist. For instance, the game comes with a Demogorgon figurine, “Stranger Things” character sheets, a “Stranger Things” adventure book and more, all of which allow you to play as your favorite character.

“Pick your character,” the game’s description reads. “[W]ill you be Will the Wise or Dustin the Dwarf? Get your fireballs ready as you investigate the mysterious castle and battle the ferocious Demogorgon. Prepare for just about anything, because the game just got stranger.”

The “Stranger Things” Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set follows the same general rules as Dungeons & Dragons, but uses the city of Hawkins and the “Upside Down” as its backdrop, which is precisely why this game will attract Dungeons & Dragons fans of all ages. It truly has an element that fans of the original game will love, but will also entice newcomers to give it a try, given the streaming show’s extreme popularity.

You can purchase through retailers such as Hasbro Pulse, Barnes & Noble and Amazon. At the time of publication, the game was marked down from $24.99 to just $14.99 on Amazon.

Based on customer reviews, the game is just as fun as you’d imagine it to be. One reviewer pointed out the game’s appeal to a variety of ages:

“If you know what you are doing as a D&M on a basic level, then you will be able to carry out this campaign for your group with minimal effort. I played with: Adult, 13 year old, 9 year old, 8 year old, and a 5 year old. They all enjoyed it greatly, and we were able to split it into several sections.”

However, the review did mention, “If you are a stickler for D&D or too hardcore to enjoy a simple game, don’t buy this.”

So definitely keep in mind how intensely you’re looking to play before officially making a purchase!

Another reviewer noted that fans of the streaming show will especially enjoy this game, for obvious reasons:

“I am a huge fan of Stranger Things and played D&D in my youth so when I saw this I had to have it. I really like how they made the DM adventure guide look hand-written by Mike. Such a great job and they give me enough info to run a decent campaign and yet still use my imagination as a DM. I recommend it highly, if you are a Stranger Things fan particularly.”

Whatever brings you around the table to play this game with friends, it’s sure to be a memorable experience. Let the roleplaying begin!
