PHOENIX (AP) Brett Sullivan hit a three-run homer in the second inning and the Colorado Rockies, despite walking 10 batters, held on to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 on Wednesday.

Sullivan connected on a shot down the right-field line to cap a four-run inning against Arizona starter Merrill Kelly.

Zac Veen, in his first game of the season, added a two-run homer in the fourth for the Rockies. The 2020 first-round pick was called up earlier in the week. The Rockies won consecutive road games for the first time since June 1-2 at the Los Angeles Angels. That was also Colorados previous road series win.

Ryan Feltner (5-6) went five innings for the win. He gave up seven hits and two runs, walking three and striking out two.

Jordan Romano pitched the ninth for his 12th save.

Kelly (8-10) gave up six hits and six earned runs in five innings.

Corbin Carroll hit his 100th career home run, and 18th of the season, an opposite-field shot to left-center off lefty Brennan Bernardino in the eighth. Earlier, the Arizona All-Star hit his 14th triple of the season, twice as many as any other player has. His 57 career triples lead all active players.

The Diamondbacks stranded 15 baserunners, including the bases loaded in the fifth and sixth. In the sixth, Gabriel Moreno struck out looking in an at-bat that saw three of plate umpire Emil Jimnezs calls overturned two called strikes that were well out of the strike zone, and the final pitch was changed to a strike.

Of the 10 walks, only one Diamondback scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Rockies: Off Thursday. LHP Kyle Freeland (3-10, 6.63 ERA) was set to starts Friday in San Francisco against Giants RHP Landen Roupp (7-11, 4.22).

Diamondbacks: Off Thursday. RHP Brandon Pfaadt (6-1, 3.36) was scheduled to start opposite Braves LHP Chris Sale (12-7, 2.20) on Friday in Atlanta.

PHOENIX (AP) The Colorado Rockies placed third baseman Kyle Karros on the seven-day concussion injured list on Wednesday.

Karros was injured in a collision with teammate shortstop Ezequiel Tovar when going to field a ground ball in the sixth inning of Tuesday nights game, a 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Karros, the son of former major league first baseman Eric Karros, is batting .265 with 10 homers and 44 RBIs for Colorado this season.

The Rockies recalled infielder Adael Amador from Triple-A Albuquerque to replace Karros. Amador, 23, was batting .261 with 11 homers for Albuquerque. He has played for Colorado in each of the previous two seasons, batting .176 with a homer in 148 at-bats.

PHOENIX (AP) Kyle Karros hit a two-run homer before leaving the game following a collision with a teammate, Tomoyuki Sugano threw six solid innings and the Colorado Rockies rallied for a 3-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.

The D-backs fell to 64-57 as they fight for National League playoff position in a tight race. They're currently in a three-way tie with the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres for the final two wild-card spots.

Karros hit his game-tying shot in the sixth off D-backs lefty Mitch Bratt that made it 2-all. In the bottom of the inning, he had to exit the game after colliding with shortstop Ezequiel Tovar while both players were trying to field a ground ball.

Karros appeared to hit his head and looked dazed while he sat on the ground for a few minutes, but the third baseman was eventually able to walk off the field. Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said postgame that Karros was in concussion protocol.

Colorado's Hunter Goodman led off the seventh with a triple to the right-center gap and Mickey Moniak brought him home on a sacrifice fly for a 3-2 lead.

Jordan Romano worked the ninth for his 11th save of the season in 14 chances, including five in seven chances while pitching for the Rockies.

The D-backs took a 2-0 lead in the first after Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte both hit homers. Carroll's long ball was his 17th of the season while it was Marte's 21st.

Sugano gave up two runs on six hits, striking out five.

Bratt had a scoreless streak of 14 innings before Karros' two-run homer. The left-handed rookie gave up two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings, striking out four.

The D-backs will start RHP Merrill Kelly (8-9, 4.88 ERA) on Wednesday vs. Rockies RHP Ryan Feltner (4-6, 5.71)

PHOENIX (AP) Nolan Areando hit a grand slam in the first inning against his former team, Michael Soroka had a successful return on the mound and the Arizona Diamondbacks jumped out to a big early lead for a 9-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.

The D-backs (64-56) moved to eight games above .500 for the first time this season.

Arenado hammered a fastball up in the zone from Gabriel Hughes over the left-field fence for his eighth career grand slam and second of the season. The eight-time All-Star played his first eight seasons in the big leagues with the Rockies.

The D-backs pushed their lead to 7-0 in the second with three more runs. Corbin Carroll had a run-scoring double, Ketel Marte brought home another run on a single and Geraldo Perdomo scored on a wild pitch.

Gabriel Moreno and Ryan Waldschmidt had two hits apiece.

Soroka who missed nearly two months with a strained left glute threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings in his return. The veteran right-hander gave up three hits, walked three and struck out four.

Zack Littell (1-0) made his D-backs debut in relief, giving up two hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings. The 30-year-old righty was signed on Monday after getting released by the Washington Nationals.

The only major blemish in Arizona's win was that shortstop Geraldo Perdomo left the game after the fourth inning with left knee soreness.

Hughes (0-4) gave up seven runs on five hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out three.

The Rockies have lost six of their last seven.

The Diamondbacks start LHP Mitch Bratt (1-1, 3.90 ERA) on Tuesday night vs. Rockies RHP Tomoyuki Sugano (11-5, 4.51).

ST. LOUIS (AP) JJ Wetherholt hit a go-ahead double, Alec Burleson homered and the St. Louis Cardinals used a three-run eighth inning to beat the Colorado Rockies 7-4 on Sunday.

With the score tied at 4, Wetherholt smacked a two-run double into center field off Parker Mushinski that drove in Masyn Winn and Nathan Church. Ivn Herrera tacked on an RBI single for his fourth hit of the game.

Burleson launched his 19th home run 441 feet to right-center in the fifth to extend St. Louis' lead to 4-1. Jordan Walker had an RBI single in the first, Jimmy Crooks delivered a sacrifice fly in the third and Winn followed with a double that scored Burleson.

Brett Sullivan hit a two-run homer for Colorado in the sixth. Hunter Goodman tied it in the eighth when he connected against winning pitcher George Soriano (5-3) for his 34th home run this season.

Goodman also had an RBI single in the first.

Riley OBrien worked a perfect ninth for his 29th save. Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy gave up three runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Rockies reliever Tanner Gordon (0-3) was charged with two runs and four hits in 3 1/3 innings.

The Rockies (46-72) are a game ahead of the Los Angeles Angels for the worst record in the majors.

Rockies: Rookie RHP Gabriel Hughes (0-3, 4.25 ERA) is expected to start Monday night at Arizona.

Cardinals: RHP Hunter Dobbins (2-2, 3.60) pitches Monday night at home against Philadelphia.

ST. LOUIS (AP) Jake McCarthy homered twice in a four-hit night, Cole Carrigg and TJ Rumfield each had two hits and the Colorado Rockies beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8-6 on Saturday night.

McCarthy gave Colorado the lead on the first pitch of the game with his 420-foot drive to right-center field off Matthew Liberatore (5-9), and the Rockies went on to snap a four-game skid.

McCarthy hit his second of the game and 13th of the season in the sixth. He is hitting .305 and has seven hits in his last two games.

Liberatore went five innings and struck out three while giving up five runs on nine hits.

Jos Fermn had a two-run double to put the Cardinals ahead, but Carrigg hit a two-run double of his own in the third that gave the Rockies the lead for good. Hunter Goodman drove in one more before the end of the inning.

Rumfield got another across in the fifth, and McCarthy belted a two-run shot to center in the sixth.

The Cardinals got within two after Jordan Walker's eighth-inning homer, and brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Jordan Romano struck out Csar Prieto swinging for his 10th save.

Rockies starter Kyle Freeland tossed 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three and walked three, and allowed five hits and three runs (one earned).

Five relievers combined to hold the Cardinals to two hits and three runs. Parker Mushinski (1-0) worked 1 1/3 innings for the win.

RHP Michael Lorenzen (3-10, 6.94 ERA) starts for Colorado opposite Cardinals RHP Michael McGreevy (4-9, 3.59) in the series finale on Sunday.

DENVER (AP) Junior Caminero homered for the third time in the series, Victor Mesa Jr. tripled twice and the AL-best Tampa Bay Rays beat the Colorado Rockies 4-0 on Wednesday for a three-game sweep.

Nick Martinez pitched into the sixth inning to help Tampa Bay to its 11th sweep of the season. That's the fourth most in franchise history and three short of the club record from 2021.

Martinez (11-3) bounced back from a rough outing against the Chicago White Sox on Friday and matched his career best in wins, set last season with Cincinnati. He allowed six hits and didnt walk a batter in his fourth scoreless outing of the season and second in the last three starts.

Martinez entered Wednesday with a 7.11 ERA in nine games three starts at Coors Field. He gave up two singles leading off the fourth but escaped when Jordan Beck grounded into an inning-ending double play.

He left after Jake McCarthy and Kyle Karros singled in the sixth, putting runners on the corners with two outs, but Tyler Wells making his Rays debut after being acquired from Baltimore fanned TJ Rumfield to end the inning. Wells recorded four outs, all via strikeout.

Garrett Cleavinger and Cam Booser each pitched a scoreless inning to finish the shutout.

The Rays took a 2-0 lead in the first against Tomoyuki Sugano (11-5) when Jonathan Aranda followed Mesas first triple with an RBI single. Aranda scored on Chandler Simpsons bloop single to left.

Sugano surrendered Camineros 33rd homer leading off the third but retired the next nine batters. He left after walking Liam Hicks to start the sixth.

Rays: RHP Drew Rasmussen (10-5. 2.91) will open a three-game series at Seattle on Friday night.

Rockies: RHP Ryan Feltner (4-5, 5.75) starts at St. Louis on Friday night to kick off a nine-game trip.

On the surface, Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak appeared to be available at the trade deadline and was drawing attention.

Behind the scenes, though, the Rockies were already negotiating a deal to keep him in town.

Moniak agreed Tuesday to a $16.25 million, two-year contract that covers 2027 and '28. He gets $7.25 million next season, which would have been his final year of arbitration eligibility, and $9 million in 2028, when he would have been eligible for free agency under the current labor contract.

Moniak has thrived at hitter friendly Coors Field since signing with Colorado in March 2025. He's hitting .277 with 18 homers and 49 RBIs across 75 games this season.

Its no secret that I love it here, Moniak said before the Rockies faced the AL-leading Tampa Bay Rays. Ever since Ive stepped foot in Colorado and Denver and in this organization, it just felt like home.

The 28-year-old, who has a $4 million salary this year, was the No. 1 overall pick by Philadelphia in the 2016 amateur draft. He's no stranger to being dealt at the deadline with the Phillies trading him to the Los Angeles Angels in 2022.

He said that after Sunday's win over the Kansas City Royals he had a handshake agreement with the team.

Its a crazy process. First time Ive ever done something like this, Moniak said. Just extremely happy, for sure.

Moniak has become a leader in the clubhouse as the Rockies try to turn things around behind a new front office led by Paul DePodesta and Josh Byrnes. Colorado made several trade deadline deals for prospects Monday, sending reliever Antonio Senzatela to Milwaukee, outfielder Brenton Doyle to the Chicago White Sox and reliever Victor Vodnik to Miami.

But after some calls with teams over the last few weeks they decided it was more prudent to extend Moniak.

We all felt like the better thing to do for us was to keep him and not just keep him and play out the next year and a half, but really keep him, DePodesta said. He's very much a part of what were trying to be, both on the field and off the field. To be able to give him an extension is also just a message not just to the rest of our team, but hopefully to our fans and our market that were actually building toward something here.

This deadline wasnt just about trading players away. It was actually about building toward something better going forward.

The Rockies already have more wins this season than all of last year when they went 43-119 (their third straight 100-loss season). They haven't made the playoffs since 2018.

I truly believe in what were doing here, explained Moniak, who said he and his wife are expecting a daughter. "This is a place thats starving for winning baseball. ... To be able to bring winning baseball back to Colorado truly would mean the world.

You see (the support) here with the records that weve had over the last year and a half. Cant imagine what its like when were competing in October and further. Thats a very attainable goal for this team and the guys we have in the very near future.

DENVER (AP) Ben Williamson scored the tiebreaking run on a wild pitch in the 11th inning and Junior Caminero added a two-out RBI single as Tampa Bay rallied to beat Colorado 9-7 on Tuesday night after the Rockies roughed up Freddy Peralta in his Rays debut.

Williamson, the automatic runner at second base, went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Taylor Walls and scampered home on a wild pitch by Nick Frasso (0-1), who was making his major league debut. That gave Tampa Bay an 8-7 lead before Yandy Diaz doubled and scored on Caminero's single.

Jonathan Aranda hit a two-run single off Rockies closer Jordan Romano to tie it at 7 in the ninth.

Liam Hicks launched a grand slam in his Rays debut off rookie Gabriel Hughes to give Peralta a 5-1 lead in the third. Hicks was acquired from Miami at the trade deadline Monday. The catcher's 15th homer was the first slam for Tampa Bay this season.

Peralta lasted just 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs and nine hits. He went 5-9 with a 4.99 ERA before coming over from the Mets in a trade Sunday. The two-time All-Star was 0-4 in his final seven starts for New York and hasnt won since pitching five innings in an 8-1 victory over the Braves on June 14.

Mickey Moniak homered and drove in four runs for Colorado. Willi Castro added his career-high 13th homer a two-run shot that put the Rockies up 7-5 in the fourth.

Moniak's 19th homer, a three-run shot, tied it 5-all in the third.

Hughes gave up five runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings with two walks and seven strikeouts in his fifth start.

Garrett Cleavinger (4-3) got the final two outs in the 10th for the win and Bryan Baker struck out two in a scoreless 11th for his 32nd save in 35 opportunities.

Rays RHP Nick Martinez (10-3, 2.77 ERA) starts Wednesday opposite Rockies RHP Tomoyuki Sugano (11-4, 4.47).

The Colorado Rockies beat the trade deadline on Monday, trading three established veteran players and receiving six prospects in the deals.

The Rockies traded right-hander Antonio Senzatela to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for two prospects: southpaw reliever Mark Manfredi and infielder Juan Martinez.

Senzatela was a big part of the Rockies playoff teams in 2017 and 2018. He appeared in 212 games for Colorado over the last 10 years.

Its been fun, Senzatela said. I came into this organization as a kid 15 years total, five in the minors, 10 in the big leagues. Its been a long ride.

Rockies team president Paul DePodesta said it was important for him to send Senzatela to a team in the playoff race, so he would have the chance to pitch in a playoff run. The Brewers are in first place in the Nation League Central division.

The Rockies also sent outfielder Brenton Doyle to the Chicago White Sox in return for two prospects, pitcher Mason Adamsand infielder Carlos Vielma. Doyle was a two-time Gold Glove award winner, but he was injured for a large part of this season. With the emergence of Jake McCarthy and Cole Carrigg in the outfield, Doyle became expendable.

The Rockies also beat the deadline with a last-minute deal, sending pitcher Victor Vodnick to the Florida Marlins for infielder Connor Norby and pitching prospect Aiden May. Both Norby and May will start their Rockies careers in the minor leagues.

DENVER (AP) Junior Caminero hit two home runs, Jonathan Aranda had four hits and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Colorado Rockies 13-9 on Monday night.

Ian Seymour (8-3) allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings for the win. He struck out nine and walked none.

Tampa Bay was busy at the trade deadline, acquiring catcher Liam Hicks from Miami and reliever Tyler Wells from Baltimore. The Rays dealt catcher Hunter Feduccia to the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing Kenny Piper to make his major league debut behind the plate.

Piper walked and scored in the second inning and singled in the ninth for his first career hit.

Tampa Bay scored in each of the first four innings to take control. Caminero hit a two-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the fourth. Taylor Walls drove in a pair in a four-run second.

It was Camineros third multihomer game this season. He leads the team with 32 homers.

Colorado, which traded outfielder Brenton Doyle and pitchers Victor Vodnik and Antonio Senzatela in separate deals, had its three-game winning streak snapped. Michael Lorenzen (3-10) was roughed up for seven runs on seven hits in three innings and left trailing 7-0.

Ezequiel Tovar, who entered batting .198, led off the bottom of the third with a homer and singled in his next three trips to the plate. He started a four-run ninth with a single.

Tampa Bay scored two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth before Richie Palacios hit a two-run homer in the ninth to answer Mickey Moniak's 447-foot leadoff shot in the eighth.

RHP Freddy Peralta (5-9, 4.99 ERA), acquired from the New York Mets on Sunday, will make his Rays debut Tuesday night. Rockies rookie RHP Gabriel Hughes (0-3, 3.33) is slated to make his fifth start of the season.

DENVER (AP) Kyle Freeland gave up one run and struck out eight in his first career complete game, Jake McCarthy hit a three-run homer, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Kansas City Royals 8-1 on Sunday to finish off a three-game series sweep.

The 99-degree temperature at first pitch made it the second-hottest Rockies home game in franchise history, behind only a 100-degree game against the Washington Nationals on June 25, 2012.

Freeland (3-10) won for just the second time in his past 18 starts. Colorados veteran left-hander had allowed 19 earned runs in 22 1/3 innings over his previous four starts. It was the first complete game for the Rockies since 2022.

Brett Sullivan had two RBIs and two doubles, and rookie Cole Carrigg matched a career high with three hits for Colorado, which outscored the Royals in the series by a combined 23-8.

McCarthy's home run was his 11th of the season and he now has 34 RBIs in his past 26 games

The Royals were swept for the ninth time this season, the most of any team in the majors. Theyve lost five of their past six games.

Royals starter Seth Lugo (4-7) gave up five earned runs and walked five in five innings.

Luke Maile drove in the run for the Royals, who put only two runners on base after the third inning.

Rockies: RHP Michael Lorenzen (3-9, 6.54 ERA) and Colorado will host LHP Ian Seymour (7-3, 4.37) and Tampa Bay on Monday.

Royals: RHP Randy Dobnak (1-0, 1.04) and Kansas City will host RHP Joe Ryan (6-7, 3.52) and Minnesota on Tuesday.

DENVER (AP) Tomoyuki Sugano allowed a run over 6 2/3 innings to win for the seventh time in his last eight starts and the Colorado Rockies beat the Kansas City Royals 3-1 on Friday night after a hailstorm delayed the start an hour.

Sugano (11-4) gave up five hits and matched his longest outing this season to help the Rockies end a four-game skid. He left after 83 pitches with Salvador Perez on first base, and Johnny Rave greeted Antonio Senzatela with a single to put runners on the corners. Josh Rojas flied out to left field to keep it 3-1.

Senzatela and Brennan Bernardino each got two outs and Jordan Romano pitched the ninth for his fifth save in five opportunities with Colorado.

Sugano has gone 7-0 since June 1 tied with the Giants' Robbie Ray for best in the majors over that span. He is the first 11-game winner for Colorado since Germn Mrquez went 12-11 in 2021.

Mickey Moniak had a one-out double off Royals starter Michael Wacha (5-8) in the first, and TJ Rumfield added a two-out single for a 1-0 lead.

Kyle Karros singled with one out in the fourth, advanced on a groundout and scored on a throwing error by second baseman Troy Johnston. Brenton Doyle doubled in his second at-bat following a 2 1/2-month stay on the injured list to make it 3-0.

Sugano gave up Carter Jensen's 15th homer with two outs in the sixth to cut it to 3-1. It was the 21st surrendered in 19 starts by the right-hander 18 of them solo shots.

Wacha allowed three runs one earned on five hits in six innings. He struck out seven, including a career-best five in a row.

Sugano went 10-10 as a rookie last season for the Orioles and collected his first major league win on April 5, beating Wacha and the Royals 8-1 in Kansas City.

Royals RHP Luinder Avila (5-3, 4.95 ERA) was set to start Saturday opposite Rockies RHP Ryan Feltner (3-5, 5.73).

SAN DIEGO (AP) Jackson Merrill, Luis Rengifo and Gavin Sheets had RBIs Griffin Canning and five relievers turned in a strong bullpen outing as the San Diego Padres beat the Colorado Rockies 3-1 on Wednesday to take both games of the short series.

The Padres (54-53) extended their winning streak to five games and moved to two games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the final NL wild card.

Canning (2-9) worked three innings and allowed one hit while striking out four. Kyle Hart started and posted his longest outing of the season, working 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Wandy Peralta allowed the Rockies' only run in the seventh.

Bradgley Rodriguez, Jeremiah Estrada making his first appearance since June 2 and Mason Miller allowed just one hit down the stretch. Miller earned his 28th save of the season in a one-hit ninth.

Merrill drove in the game's first run in the fourth with a single to left field. Rengifo followed and knocked in another run, and Gavin Sheets capped a three-run fourth, pushing another run across with a sacrifice fly.

In five innings, Gabriel Hughes (0-3) gave up all three runs on six hits for the Rockies.

Brett Sullivan drove in Colorados run with an RBI single in the seventh. The Rockies have lost 12 of their last 16 games.

SAN DIEGO (AP) Fernando Tatis Jr. went 5 for 5 with two RBIs in the first five-hit game of his career, and Xander Bogaerts' sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the San Diego Padres an 8-7 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.

Tatis became the first major leaguer with five singles in a game this season and the first Padres player to do it since Adrin Gonzlez on Aug. 11, 2009.

Manny Machado had three hits for the Padres, including an eighth-inning single that was misplayed by right fielder Jake McCarthy for an error allowing Jake Cronenworth to score the tying run.

San Diego loaded the bases against Jimmy Herget (0-4) with nobody out in the ninth on Jackson Merrill's leadoff single and two walks. Merrill scored on Bogaerts fly to center field, giving the Padres (54-53) their fourth straight win.

Mason Miller (3-1) struck out all three batters in the top of the ninth to keep it tied at 7.

Padres manager Craig Stammen was ejected in the fourth after arguing with plate umpire Jeremie Rehak, who did not grant Bogaerts an ABS challenge.

San Diego scored twice in the second on Luis Campusanos run-scoring double and Tatis RBI single. Machado had an RBI single in the fifth to pull San Diego within one, and Tatis tied it at 4 with another run-scoring single in the sixth.

Ezequiel Tovar and Mickey Moniak each had an RBI double in the seventh to give the Rockies a 6-4 lead.

San Diego evened it in the bottom half when Merrill singled home a run and Ty France scored on a fielding error by third baseman Willi Castro.

Tovar drew a bases-loaded walk from Adrian Morejon in the eighth to put Colorado in front 7-6.

Castro and Moniak both homered in the third as the Rockies scored four times to take a 4-2 lead. McCarthy hit an RBI single and came around on Moniak's two-run shot.

Rockies RHP Gabriel Hughes (0-2, 2.79 ERA) takes the mound Wednesday. The Padres had not announced a scheduled starter for the series finale.

MILWAUKEE (AP) Jacob Misiorowski struck out 12 of the first 13 batters he faced including each of the first seven and allowed only one hit over five innings and the Milwaukee Brewers trounced the Colorado Rockies 11-2 on Sunday.

Misiorowski (11-4) set a Brewers franchise record for consecutive strikeouts to start a game. Sixty-six of his 83 pitches exceeded 100 mph, as Misiorowski broke his own major league record for most 100-mph pitches in a game since pitch tracking began in 2008.

Colorado didnt get a runner on base against Misiorowski until Cole Carrigg hit a two-out, opposite-field homer in the fifth on a 101.9-mph fastball. It was the fastest pitch that has ever resulted in a Rockies homer during the pitch tracking era.

Misiorowski increased his MLB-leading strikeout total to 185. He allowed one run over five innings as his ERA rose slightly to an MLB-best 1.58.

Andrew Vaughn homered for the NL Central-leading Brewers.

Milwaukee's nine doubles matched a franchise single-game record. The Brewers had a season-high 11 extra-base hits.

Joey Ortiz tripled and doubled for the Brewers. Luis Lara and Jackson Chourio each hit two doubles, with Lara also driving in two runs. Cooper Pratt had two hits and two RBIs.

The Brewers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Colorado's Kyle Freeland (2-10) threw a wild pitch and had an errant throw to first after fielding a bunt during that rally.

Freeland gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings as his ERA rose to 7.34.

Rockies: Off Monday before starting a two-game series at San Diego. Tuesday's scheduled starting pitchers are Colorado's Michael Lorenzen (3-9, 6.53 ERA) and San Diego's Michael King (6-7, 3.24).

Brewers: Off Monday before opening a three-game series at San Francisco. Brandon Sproat (3-5, 5.09) pitches for the Brewers and Tyler Mahle (2-9, 5.31) starts for the Giants on Tuesday.

MILWAUKEE (AP) Rookies Cooper Pratt and Luis Lara drove in three runs apiece and Robert Gasser worked six solid innings as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Colorado Rockies 8-5 on Saturday night.

The 21-year-old Pratt, the starting shortstop since being called up from Triple-A Nashville in mid-June, had a solo homer, two singles and a sacrifice fly.

Lara, also 21, was called up from Nashville on July 7. He doubled in two runs, singled, added a sacrifice fly and walked.

Pratt was signed to an eight-year, $50.75 million contract in April, while outfielder Lara signed a $31 million, seven-year deal in June.

Gasser (3-4) allowed two runs on five hits in six innings, striking out four without a walk.

Laras bases-loaded double keyed a four-run sixth that put Milwaukee up 7-2. William Contreras and Jake Bauers opened with consecutive singles, chasing Ryan Feltner (3-5). Juan Mejia relieved and walked Garrett Mitchell, loading the bases. Lara followed with a bloop two-run double to shallow left to make it 5-2.

Pratt followed with a sacrifice fly. Lara scored from third on an errant pickoff throw by catcher Braxton Fulford.

Christian Yelichs sacrifice fly in the eighth made it 8-2.

Colorado scored three runs in the ninth with the aid of an error, but Trevor Megill struck out Cole Carrigg with runners on first and second for his 17th save in 19 chances.

The Rockies erased a 2-0 deficit on Hunter Goodmans two-run single in the fourth.

The Brewers answered with one in the bottom half on a single by Bauers and consecutive two-out singles by Lara and Pratt.

Milwaukee scored two runs in the second to go in front 2-0. Bauers singled to open, stole second, advanced on a ground out and scored on Laras sacrifice fly. Pratt followed with his second homer, sending the first pitch 409 feet to left-center.

Brewers RHP Jacob Misiorowski (10-4, 1.57 ERA) faces Rockies LHP Kyle Freeland (2-9, 7.28) on Sunday.

MILWAUKEE (AP) Tomoyuki Sugano picked up his 10th win and Kyle Karros and TJ Rumfield each had two hits as the Colorado Rockies capitalized on a fast start to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 on Friday.

Sugano (10-4) struck out five over 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on a pair of homers Christian Yelich's 413-foot leadoff drive in the first inning and Brice Turang's 434-foot blast in the sixth. Sugano was making his second start since coming off the injured list after missing three weeks due to back spasms.

Milwaukee brought the tying run to the plate after Andrew Vaughn and Jake Bauers started the ninth inning with consecutive singles. Jordan Romano regrouped from there by getting Joey Ortiz to pop up, striking out Gary Snchez struck out and retiring Yelich on a fly to right.

Romano picked up his eighth save in 10 opportunities.

Although the Rockies (42-63) have the National Leagues worst record, theyre just one win away from matching their total from a year ago, when they finished 43-119.

Colorado wasted no time taking charge against the NL Central-leading Brewers.

After Milwaukees Shane Drohan struck out Jake McCarthy to start the game, Karros and Cole Carrigg hit consecutive doubles to put the Rockies ahead for good. Hunter Goodman singled home Carrigg.

Colorado added single runs in the third and fourth innings to extend its lead to 4-1.

McCarthy led off the third with a triple and scored on a single by Karros, who was thrown out trying to reach second. Willi Castro led off the fourth with a single, stole second, reached third on a grounder and scored on Mickey Moniaks sacrifice fly.

Drohan (5-4) struck out six but gave up a career-high five runs in six innings. He departed in the seventh after issuing a leadoff walk to Moniak, who scored when Rumfield greeted Grant Anderson with a pinch-hit double.

Ryan Feltner (3-4, 5.48 ERA) pitches for Colorado and Robert Gasser (2-4, 4.91) starts for Milwaukee on Saturday.

DENVER (AP) Cade Cavalli threw six strong innings, Luis Garca Jr. hit a two-run homer as part of a six-run seventh to break open a tight game and the Washington Nationals beat the Colorado Rockies 8-0 on Wednesday.

The Nationals took two of three from the Rockies to win a fourth consecutive road series.

Cavalli (7-4) scattered four hits and walked two while striking out eight. The right-hander threw 90 pitches, mixing a blazing fastball with a baffling knuckle-curve. He also made a nifty play early in the game, reaching behind him with his glove to snare a sharp grounder headed up the middle.

Cavalli and Rockies starter Gabriel Hughes (0-2) matched zeros through four innings. The Nationals took a 1-0 lead in the fifth after Jorbit Vivas led off the inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from James Wood.

Hughes went five innings and allowed one run while striking out five. Washington scored seven runs five earned on the Colorado bullpen.

CJ Abrams had a four-hit afternoon.

The decisive seventh inning featured a couple of errors on one play for the Rockies following a single up the middle by Dylan Crews with two runners aboard. A throw by Cole Carrigg missed the cutoff man, resulting in an error and sending catcher Brett Sullivan scrambling up the line. Sullivan then committed another miscue by throwing wide of pitcher Zach Agnos, who had to jump over Abrams while covering home.

Jake McCarthy lined a double for the Rockies in extending his on-base streak to 17 games.

Nationals: Open a three-game series against Arizona on Friday, with righty Zack Littell (7-7, 5.34) taking the mound.

Rockies: Righty Tomoyuki Sugano (9-4, 4.76) starts Friday at Milwaukee.

DENVER (AP) Hunter Goodman hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning to offset a pair of two-run shots by CJ Abrams, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Washington Nationals 8-7 on Tuesday night.

Clayton Beeter (3-3) gave up Goodman's 31st homer on a 3-2 pitch before Jordan Romano struck out two in the ninth for his seventh save. Juan Mejia (3-6) worked a scoreless eighth for the win.

Jos Tena had a two-out single off Rockies starter Michael Lorenzen in the first and Abrams homered for the third straight game for a 2-0 lead.

Mickey Moniak hit an RBI single as Colorado answered with a four-run second against rookie opener Carson Palmquist. Troy Johnston added a sacrifice fly, and Jake McCarthy doubled in a run before scoring on a two-out single by rookie Cole Carrigg, who had three of Colorado's 12 hits.

Abrams homered again his 24th with Tena aboard to tie it 4-all in the third. Abrams has 78 RBIs to match the Cardinals' Jordan Walker for most in the majors.

Willi Castro hit a leadoff double in the third against Nationals reliever Miles Mikolas before scoring on Kyle Karros' groundout for a 5-4 lead.

James Wood delivered a two-out, two-run double to put the Nationals ahead 6-5 and chase Lorenzen, who allowed six runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Goodman doubled and scored on a two-out single by TJ Rumfield to tie it in the fifth, and Moniak led off the sixth with his 16th homer to put the Rockies ahead 7-6.

Wood doubled in the seventh off Jimmy Herget before scoring on pinch-hitter Jorbit Vivas' sacrifice fly to tie it at 7.

Palmquist was tagged for four runs and four hits over 1 2/3 innings in his seventh big league appearance, and Mikolas gave up three runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Nationals RHP Cade Cavalli (6-4, 3.78 ERA) starts Wednesday opposite Rockies RHP Gabriel Hughes (0-1, 3.14).
