Man, 36, with impaired medical condition found safe after he went missing out of Aurora

UPDATE | Gashan Akel was found safe and in good health Thursday evening.


AURORA, Colo. — Aurora police are asking the public to keep an eye out for a missing 36-year-old man with an impaired medical condition.

On Wednesday around 8 a.m., Gashan Ahmed Akel, 36, left his home near the 15000 block of E. 12th Avenue on foot. Police say they do not know where he was headed. Police say he was wearing a white shirt, black pants and white shoes.

Police said he has an impaired medical condition and functions at the level of a 7-year-old.

Akel only speaks Somali.

He may or may not run from police, according to a Colorado Bureau of Investigation report.

He is described as standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
