That can result in a brake fluid leak and/or a loss of brake function.

The recall covers 223,315 Expeditions and 50,474 Navigators between model years 2022 and 2024. Ford expects that just 1% of these vehicles have the defect, per a recall report dated Friday.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this recall but the Michigan-based auto giant had received 45 warranty reports of front brake line leaks as of April 17, NHSTA documents note.

As a remedy, Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect the front brake line of impacted vehicles and replace it or the air cleaner outlet pipe if necessary, free of charge. Dealer notifications were planned to begin Wednesday, the recall report notes, with owner letters set to be mailed out between May 26 and May 30.

In the meantime, drivers can also confirm if their specific vehicle is included in this recall and find more information using the NHTSA site or Ford's recall lookup. The company's number for this recall is 25S47.

Impacted drivers may experience an increase in pedal travel, NHSTA documents warn, meaning the pedal would need to be pressed harder to apply the brakes. And if there's a leaking brake line, the fluid level will decrease over time potentially causing the red brake warning indicator to light up.

A spokesperson for Ford had no additional comments when reached by The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Denver 7+ Colorado News Latest Headlines | May 14, 11am

That poses a fire hazard.

To date, Samsung has received more than 300 reports of the knobs activating unintentionally since 2013, the CPSC noted, and the now-recalled ranges have been involved in about 250 fires. At least 18 of those fires caused extensive property damage and seven involved pet deaths, according to the Commission.

In addition, the CPSC added, about 40 injuries have been reported, including eight that required medical attention.

Consumers can identify whether their slide-in electric range is included in this recall by looking at the model number printed on the product. Both Samsung and the CPSC have published a list of affected models online.

The recalled ranges were sold between May 2013 and August 2024 online at Samsung.com as well as in retailers nationwide including Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot and Lowe's.

Consumers in possession of a recalled range are urged to contact New Jersey-based Samsung Electronics America for a free set of knob locks or covers compatible for installation with their model. In the meantime, those impacted should take extra caution to keep children and pets away from the knobs, and check their range before leaving the house or going to bed to make sure it's off, the CPSC said.

As part of general stovetop and oven safety, the Commission added that consumers should never place, leave, or store anything on the top of your range when not in use as such items can ignite if it's accidentally activated.
Denver 7+ Colorado News Latest Headlines | August 8, 8am

The outbreak was declared over in April.

FDA officials sent a warning letter to Dollar Tree Inc. last week saying the WanaBana apple puree products remained on store shelves in several states through late December, two months after the firm was told about the recall. Officials at the Chesapeake, Virginia-based company had said they disallowed sales of the products at registers, but the FDA said that was not an effective measure because at least one child in Washington state ate a recalled fruit pouch in a store before an attempted purchase.

Dollar Tree officials said in an email Tuesday that the company is operating under new management and is taking steps to bolster its process for quickly and effectively executing product recalls. The company operates more than 16,000 discount stores in 48 states.

Negasmart was placed under multiple import alerts this month, even though FDA officials said they had no indication that the firm is attempting to import products into the U.S. The action is to ensure that any attempt by the firm to import products would be flagged by FDA reviewers and prevented from reaching consumers. Tests showed that cinnamon tested from the plant had lead levels more than 2,000 times higher than a maximum level proposed by the FDA.

Anyone who consumed the recalled pouches should consult with a health care provider, the CDC said. There is no safe level of lead consumption, which can cause serious learning and behavior problems, the agency emphasized.

The pouches include those sold under the WanaBana brand at Dollar Tree stores and online and under the Schnucks and Weis brands in stores. Because they have a long shelf life, they may still be in consumers homes. Consumers should not eat or serve the pouches and should discard them.

___

The Associated Press Health and Science Department receives support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institutes Science and Educational Media Group. But on Tuesday, the FDA shared an update from the brand warning consumers of a safety issue associated with the recalled product.

The issue centers on the previously recalled Crecelac Infant 0-12 month formula with an August 2025 expiration date that has now tested positive for Cronobacter spp, a bacterium that can live in dry foods like powdered formula, per the CDC.

Cronobacter infections are rare but serious, and although they have been reported in all age groups, the CDC says infections are most common and most deadly in infants less than 2 months old.

The age group is most likely to develop meningitis through the infection, but the germ can also cause other central nervous system or bloodstream infections, such as sepsis. A recent report states that 40% of infants who developed either form of infection due to Cronobacter worldwide have died, per the CDC.

Other complications infants can experience from a Cronobactor infection include brain abscess, developmental delays, motor impairments and death, according to the FDA.

Older adults who become infected with Cronobacter will generally see milder symptoms, but the FDA says early symptoms in infants may include poor feeding, irritability, temperature changes, jaundice, grunting breaths or abnormal body movements.

There have been no reports of injuries or adverse reactions related to the recalled Crecelac Infant formula, according to the FDA, but consumers who have purchased the product are being asked to discontinue use and return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.

The 12.4-ounce cardboard and aluminum containers included in the safety notice were distributed primarily in March, April and May, only in the state of Texas. The recalled product can be identified through the batch code on the bottom of it, with the UPC code of "8 50042 40847 6" and a lot code of "24 039 1 CHE 352-1."

The other formulas involved in the initial recall, which were sold without being evaluated by the FDA to determine whether they meet U.S. food safety and nutritional standards, can be found here.

The recalled product has UPC code 8 22514 26626 6.

Salmonella can cause serious health effects.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says salmonella bacteria causes about 1.35 million infections, 26,500 hospitalizations and 420 deaths in the U.S. each year.

Symptoms of illness from salmonella include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, the CDC says. Symptoms can begin between hours to almost a week after infection, and usually last four to seven days.

Most people recover without treatment, but those with severe cases may require antibiotics, according to the CDC. In some cases, hospitalization may be required.

A routine sampling of the black pepper collected by the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets came up positive for salmonella in some 7-ounce packages, prompting the recall.

Customers with the recalled product should return it to their place of purchase for a full refund, the company said.

Production of the product has been halted and an investigation into the cause of the contamination is underway.
